Above all, the method Co-Creation is applied in the areas of product development and innovation. Initially participants have to be found who bring along great interest and engagement for the topic. Depending on nature and extent of the challenge participants will be separated in groups. Every group will be supported by experts or stakeholders of the customer and collect solutions, discuss and – depending on the topic – implement prototypes. Afterwards the proposed solutions will collectively be discussed and serve as starting point for the development of further ideas or prototypes.
The advantage of this method lies in the strongly user driven approach: The group determines direction and content of the discussion. At the same time a co-creation does not have to stick with discussion: participants can by the help of specific methods and material also be encouraged to realize first ideas and create individual proposals as a paper prototype.
