Research project MAMS starts together with D-LABS
The Multi-Access, Modular –Services Framework (MAMS) is a major IT project supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It shall offer new communication services to small and medium-sized businesses. Since today’s society becomes more and more fragmented, business companies need to offer solutions that account for the individual interests and expectations of their customers. But small and medium-sized companies often lack the corresponding resources and know-how for such an undertaking.
Based on an intuitive graphical interface MAMS features certain tools for generating individual customer services that can easily be adapted to the requirements of its customers. This is realized by a novel service kit, a so called Service Delivery Platform, which helps to combine information technology and telecommunication services. The user can independently generate individual communication services within the platform. Enterprises but also associations, communes and alliances can create ambitious IT applications without the need to possess deep technical knowledge. For instance a sport club may broadcast its games via Live-Streaming in the internet. Or retail businesses can inform their nearby customers via SMS about their latest promotion campaigns.
The MAMS project is developed by an industry and research consortium which includes the Deutsche Telekom Laboratories, T-Systems, Alcatel-Lucent, the Fraunhofer Institute , the Charité clinics and the Median clinics. Now, as the project goes into its second round, D-LABS accedes this consortium. D-LABS work will predominantly focus on the development of an MAMS-application as user-friendly as possible.
